The Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20):

"Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'"

This passage, known as the Great Commission, is one of the foundational texts for Christian evangelism and preaching. It instructs believers to go out into the world, preach, teach, and make disciples.

Preaching in the Early Church (Acts 2:14-41):

The book of Acts records the early days of the Christian church. On the day of Pentecost, after the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples, Peter preached a powerful Christ centered sermon that resulted in the conversion of about 3,000 people.

The Power of the Word (Hebrews 4:12):

"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."

This verse emphasizes the dynamic and transformative power of the Word of God, which has to be your primary focus when preaching.

Preaching brings Faith (Romans 10:14-15):

"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!'"

This passage underscores the importance of preaching in the process of faith formation and conversion.

Correcting, Rebuking, and Encouraging (2 Timothy 4:2):

"Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction."

This verse highlights the diverse roles of preaching, including correcting, rebuking, and encouraging believers.

Proclaiming the Kingdom (Luke 4:43):

"But he said, 'I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.'"

Jesus himself saw it as his mission to proclaim the good news of the kingdom, setting an example for his followers.

The Word Does Not Return Empty (Isaiah 55:11):

"So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."

This Old Testament verse speaks to the effectiveness and power of the Word of God, which is central to preaching.

These passages, among others, establish the biblical basis for preaching as a vital means of spreading the Gospel of Christ, instructing believers, and calling people to faith in Jesus Christ.
